 IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to:
1) provide the township with the most current address. Failure to receive the tax notice does not negate the responsibility of payment.
2) ensure the accuracy of the parcel number as it relates to the legal description of the parcel. Tax payments are applied per parcel number and if that number is not for the correct legal description, you could be paying someone else's taxes !!
                                                                                                Thank you,   Pamela Esterline Beck

100% PRE-Principal Residence Exemption  (formerly known as 'homestead') will only affect the season in which your school district collects its "School Operating Tax".  Your tax bill will read "Exempt" instead of an amount in the School Operating Tax millage line for that season.

In Somerset Township, the only school collecting in the Summer tax season is Hanover-Horton.

School districts--Addison, North Adams/Jerome, Columbia Central--all collect in the Winter tax season.

TREASURER PAMELA ESTERLINE BECK

I am currently serving my second term as an elected official.  First elected in 2004, I am extremely dedicated to providing the best possible service to the residents who placed their trust in me. I enjoy the duties of the Treasurer's position and take the responsibilities of the office seriously. Updating the office and it's computer systems was a welcome challenge and now provides an atmosphere of structure and efficiency. I am available outside my public hours by appointment if necessary.

I attend educational workshops and conferences frequently to keep current on the ever-changing tax laws as well as learning new techniques and practices as a board member that will enhance our township as a whole.  I received the national Certification as a Public Finance Administrator (CPFA) after completing three years of schooling in conjunction with Central Michigan University in 2008.  I received state recognition as a Michigan Certified Professional Treasurer (MiCPT) in 2010.

I grew up in southern Hillsdale County learning honesty above all and fostering a strong work ethic to not only do a job, but to always do it well. I returned to the area after living in Jackson, then Ann Arbor.  I have two children as high ranking students at North Adams-Jerome High School who enjoy many extra-curricular activiites.  I am proud to have roots in Hillsdale County and look forward to being a part of its future.
